Support the Work of the MFCCH Task Force in Developing Standards for Equity
Dear Regional and National Coordinators
The Task Force Migrant-Friendly and Culturally Competent Healthcare needs your help.
The Task Force has developed a set of standards aiming at monitoring and measuring equity in health care for migrants and other vulnerable groups. Similar to the HPH standards, the standards for equity provide a real opportunity for staff and services to question what they do, why they do it and whether it can be done better. These standards have been developed on the basis of an extensive critical literature review, involving several expert workshops and consultations. However they now need to be tested in pilot organizations in order to evaluate their actual compliance with staff and service needs.
The pilot test will be conducted in 3 distinct steps: firstly to check relevance and completeness and gain feedback on applicability, followed by a consequent revision of the standards, and finally to actually pilot test implementation and the improvement process.
The project team is therefore asking regional and national coordinators to support this process and to participate in the pilot-test by contracting 2-4 hospitals/health services in their network. Each pilot institution should have a contact person and set up a review for assessing the standards. The Pilot Test Guidelines for Implementation and the Pilot Test Survey, both in an online version and paper version for download, can be found HERE.
The assessment of the standards should not represent a significant workload for the pilottest organizations but will provide invaluable information to the Task Force for the final realization of the standards.
